This Large and Destructive Tornado touched down about 6 miles northwest of French Lick...the NWS SPC issued a Moderate Risk of Severe Thunderstorms...at 4:22PM a slow moving Stovepipe Tornado touched down...the tornado only tracked 500 yards and was already a EF4 tornado...the Tornado moved to the southeast...and directly hit French Lick at 4:36PM...a tornado emergency was issued for both French Lick and Bedford at 4:37PM...the Tornado left French Lick at 4:40PM leaving mass destruction in its wake...Extremely High end EF4 damage was reported at Big Splash Adventure which was a total loss following the tornado...West Baden Springs was completely wiped off of it's foundation...showing signs of EF5 damage...the EF5 tornado moved into Bedford at 4:48PM...Multiple Gas Stations, a Abandoned Arby's, a Open Arby's and a Abandoned Gas Station were all wiped off of there foundations following the tornado...the EF5 started to weaken at 4:55PM...and was a small EF2 by 5:00PM...and roped out 2 minutes later...Former President Obama declared French Lick a Disaster Zone...and a State of Emergency was declared for Bedford by the Governor of Indiana... |
