History[]
At 11:07 AM, a small stovepipe tornado touched down ENE of Bridge Creek. It only traveled 0.7 miles and it was already at EF3 strength. The tornado killed 2 people in an overpass. The tornado rapidly attained EF5 strength. The tornado hit several farms and killed 18 people. The tornado entered the Moore City Limits at 11:20 AM. The tornado took a path that hit Briarwood Elementary and Plaza Towers Elementary and killed 56 people. The tornado devastated a neighborhood where 34 people were killed. The tornado then moved on into downtown where 96 people were injured, and 46 people were killed. The tornado then exited Moore at EF4 strength and killed 24 people.
The tornado still kept strength and moved into Shawnee. The tornado caused major damage there and injured 2,915 people. The tornado dissipated ENE of Shawnee.
