The United States Super Outbreak of 2021 was a long lived, very destructive, very deadly tornado outbreak that saw tornadoes from Washington to Maine. The outbreak essentially crippled the United States. The outbreak saw over 21,000 deaths and 30 million injuries, clogging the hospital system, well, what was left of it. The United States, recovering from the COVID-19 Pandemic, was brought to it’s knees by this outbreak.

Meteorological Synopsis[]
On May 19th, a Tropical Depression formed off the Southern Coast of Hawaii. The Storm, now named ‘Abby’ Traveled towards California. On May 25th, the system neared California, prompting a Tropical Storm Warning for many parts of the California Coastline. Tropical Storm Abby spawned a huge line of storms, stretching all the way from Baja California, to British Columbia. At that point, Storm Abby was now a Tropical Depression, as the line of storms separated, and started heading towards the West Coast.
May 26th Meteorological Synopsis[]
On May 26th, the line of storms hit California, Oregon and Washington. The first tornadoes spawned in Napa Valley, California, doing damage to the surrounding communities. Over the course of the day, many tornadoes formed, killing 3,029 People. The line of storms swept East.
May 27th Meteorological Synopsis[]
On May 27th, the line of storms, having swept into the Southwest, Central Northwest Region, spawned hundreds of tornadoes, killing 1,112 People. Being that this area was sparsely populated, not as much damage was done, but some there were some noteworthy tornadoes. The storms continued to sweep East.
May 28th Meteorological Synopsis[]
On May 28th, the line of storms reached Tornado Alley, spawning severe tornadoes all over, from North Dakota to Texas.

By May 29th, the storms reached the Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes Area, spawning many destructive and deadly tornadoes.

On May 30th, the line of storms reached Pennsylvania all the way down to Florida, many tornadoes were spawned.

May 26 Summary[]
May 26 was the first day of the outbreak, with many deadly and dangerous tornadoes being spawned. This was record breaking for the West Coast. Many tornadoes effected cities across the West Coast. Additionally, many rivers flooded due to the immense rainfall recorded on May 26, which was 1 foot of rain in some places. Many people lost their lIves to Tornadoes and Floods that occurred on the West Coast.
May 27 Summary[]
May 27 was the second day of the outbreak, this day was considered to be worse than the first day of the outbreak, with deadly tornadoes impacting many major cities in the Central Pacific Northwest. There was over 1 trillion dollars done in damages on this day. Arizona was impacted with major flooding all across the state, with notable flooding killing 3 people at the Grand Canyon and 4 people in Tuscon.
May 28 Summary[]
May 28 was a bad day for Tornado Alley. 25 EF-5 Tornadoes were spawned, killing 8,910 people. Mass Damage was caused, with Oklahoma being the worst hit, with 21 EF-5 tornadoes being spawned. Ahead of the storm system, the Mississippi River flooded, causing 3 deaths in Iowa. This day broke records for the biggest amount of EF-5‘s in a day.
May 29 Summary[]
May 29th was a deadly and destructive day. There were many deaths and much damage. This day broke the record for number of EF-2 Tornadoes: There were 146 EF-2 tornadoes, causing over 1 trillion in damage.
May 30 Summary[]
There were not a big amount of tornadoes on this day: 22, all EF-0’s. In summary, there were 2.1 Illlion dollars in damage.
May 31 Summary[]
This day, there were 10 tornadoes: 9 EF-1’s, and 1 EF-2, causing 51.9 Million dollars in damage.
Notable Tornadoes on May 26[]
Myrtle Point, Oregon Tornado[]
At 8:01 AM, just outside of Broadbent, Oregon, a funnel cloud touched down. Immediately, sirens
went off. The tornado quickly grew to 1.89 Miles Wide, heading towards Myrtle Point. The tornado was at EF-3 intensity as it crossed over a big slope. The tornado snapped trees, and grew to 2.08 miles in size. The tornado barreled into Myrtle Point at EF-4 intensity. Almost immediately, houses were destroyed by the 190 MPH winds. As the tornado went further into Myrtle Point, it reached Myrtle Point Elementary School, and Myrtle Point High School. Both schools were destroyed, killing 1 student at the High School and none at the Elementary School. This was the first death of the historic outbreak. Just after demolishing the High School and Elementary School, 2 people were killed as their house was destroyed. After that, the tornado weakened and roped out, rather quickly.
Winston-Green-Roseburg Tornado[]
At 8:31 as the Myrtle Point Tornado was roping out, another tornado touched down in the town
Winston, by Harry and Sid Nichols Park. The tornado touched down at EF-1 intensity. It started to head Northeast, towards McGovern Elementary. Once the tornado reached the school, the roof was ripped off, injuring 4 teachers and 1 student. The tornado headed further into Winston, at EF-3 intensity. It severely damaged 211 homes, and destroyed 81 poorly built homes, killing 11 people. Only then, did the sirens began going. The tornado strengthened to EF-4 Intensity. When the tornado reached Pine Tree Apartments and Christy Court Apartments, they were reduced to rubble. Before passing out of Winston, 897 homes were destroyed, killing 23 people. While heading towards Green, the tornado grew to 1.49 miles wide, with windspeeds of 195 MPH. The tornado passed through the town of Green quickly, destroying 85 percent of the structures, and killing 31 people. Passing out of Green, the tornado quickly weakened as it went into Roseburg, and dissipated quickly thereafter.
